Writing Goals: Looking Ahead to 2024

2023 has been a short story kind of year for me. I’ve been writing several short stories for the kickstarter I participated in for Pulphouse Fiction Magazine. I have submitted a couple so far, and missed a couple as well due to travel, etc. The last one is for this month, December, and I’m almost at the finish line of completion.

Next on my list is to finish up two other short stories I had intended for Pulphouse, but since I missed the deadline, I wanted to at least finish the stories as I think they will be worthwhile to send out to magazines when completed.

After that, it’s time to get back to work on some longer fiction. I have a Druid fantasy novel that needs completing as well as a polishing up a science fiction novel I had completed years ago. I’m dusting it off and running through it with a modern lens (and hopefully a more experienced writing eye).

There’s also another story I have started (my biggest goal is to complete everything I started, both in the past and going forward) that I’m keen to finish. It’s a romantic horror story based off of a short film script I had submitted to a previous contest (it reached the quarter finals).

All these plans should take up the first quarter of next year, and after that? Who knows? I will just start writing and see where it takes me.
